The Boswellia tree has been celebrated for centuries. The resin of this tree is collected to make frankincense essential oil. The egyptians burned its resin during religious ceremonies and contemplative meditation. Ancient Egyptians used it in perfumes and soothing salves. It even has a long history in traditional Ayurvedic and Chinese health practices.
According to preclinical research, Frankincense essential oil may promote healthy cellular function when taken internally.* Experimental research suggests it may provide soothing internal effects, thanks to its high levels of α-pinene.*
Frankincense also helps maintain healthy skin structure, and its warm, spicy aroma creates a relaxing yet uplifting atmosphere.

How to use
There are three ways to use essential oils:
Aromatic use: Add three to four drops to the diffuser of your choice.
1. Through smell. We call this “aromatic” use of essential oils. This includes any application method that helps you experience the aroma of the oil. You can use essential oils aromatically by:
a) Inhaling directly: Add a few drops of the blend to a tissue and gently breathe in, holding the tissue near the face.
- Applying drop to your hands and inhaling
- Wearing as a personal fragrance (use only with blends not pure essential oil directly)
b) Using a diffuser: Essential oil is potent in nature and adding one or two drops in your diffuser along with water will help disperse the oil into the air. This is a gentle way to inhale essential oils continuously while at home.
c) Adding to a bath: Add a few drops of essential oil to a bath and gently inhale while soaking.
2. On your skin. “Topical” application of essential oils allows the oil to absorb into the skin. Some ways to use essential oils on your skin are:
- Add to lotions or moisturizers
- Use the potent pure essential oils only when mixed with carrier oils like coconut/almond oil, to minimize skin sensitivity. Ideally try one of Deepvara aromatherapy blends to imbibe the maximum benefits. See additional precautions below.
Caution
Possible skin sensitivity. Keep out of reach of children. If you’re pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor’s care, consult your physician. Avoid eye contact with eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas.
